Pham Thi My Hanh PDF Print E-mail
hanhMy name is Hanh. My father always told acquaintance's that he named me by chance. One day, he went to people’s committee to register my birth, waiting for his turn, thinking about my name and looking at the mark of slippers - My Hanh. He thought that it’s a really beautiful name and it became my name. My name means happiness

There are 4 people in my family; my father, mother, older brother and me. Everyone who has been close to my family says that we are a really playful family. My father and my mother are the same age and retired. My father is a strict father and my mother is an indulgent mother. You know, my father looks terribly austere so my school friends were all afraid of him and they didn’t dare call for me at home. In fact, he is a good-natured and light hearted man and he is also a joker. My mother says that my father is her moral support. My brother is 5 years older than me. He is computer engineer and working for Political College where my mother had worked. My brother contracted polio fever when he was 3 years old. Therefore, he is smaller than his friends of the same age. My parents told that he was handsome and healthy before has contracted dangerous disease. My mother was a physician. She knew about that disease but she could not do anything for her son because there was no polio vaccin in Viet Nam at that time. My parents said that it is fortunate my brother still can move by himself. My brother got married and has 3 year old boy. I love my family.
I haven’t worked for any company before working for GIBTKs (since December of 2007). I just went to the University and studied hard. After class, I went home and helped to manage the small coffee shop of my family. I also gave some children of my parents’ friends private tuitoring in English at my home.
I will never forget the first time when I met Mr. Robert. It is really the first time I talked seriously with a foreigner and had an interview. I lacked self- confident and was afraid of him. I thought nobody would accept an inexperienced person like me to work. And I also never forget the statement of Mr Robert which has changed my life – He would like to build a new house in a new land more than repair an old one and he has accepted me to work for GIBTKs. I like the way Mr Robert has operated our organization. I thought that Charity is that you come to somewhere and give something for people who need it. But to Mr Robert, it is also The Love. We do not only help the children and their family one time but actually help them to have an easier and better life. Moreover, we help them to walk until they are able to walk on their own. I know I am a bridge between Mr Robert, kind people from the US and poor people in Vietnam who really need urgent helps of philanthropists. To me, it’s really meaningful work. I like this job and always try my best to make my contribution to GIBTKs.
